It’s a little car. So why was this toy car ever made? What kid patiently waited for Christmas morning hoping for a toy Camry?
And the front doors open.
It’s time to paint the wheels and tint some tiny windows.

How does one tint the windows on a diecast car?

There are probably more kids looking for a toy Toyota Camry than a toy Plymouth Voyager.

When I was a kid, I was over the moon when I finally found a Majorette version of my parents’ K-car ‘84 Caravan. The little sliding door even worked and everything.

Fuck you for being able to get an exact model of your car. JK, I’m just mad that there is only one model of E90 M3 out there.

Probably the same kid who has a train set town set up and needs regular cars to serve as the backdrop for the Lamborghini/cop car chase scene. With obligatory spectacular crash ending.
(Okay, I wouldn’t have waited for this as a Christmas present, but I would have picked it up as part of obsessively collecting.)

It’s for the kid who wants a car just like daddy’s or mommy’s. And for that reason, I wish more toy companies would make the “boring” cars.

Also ...
Here’s my toy car. Here’s my real car.

I’m thinking of mixing black paint with clear coat. Definitely not using actual window tint

I think the Caravan was actually a Matchbox, it was a nice little casting (made in a few colors):
Majorette did have a nice Ford Transit with a sliding door:
And maybe the most unusual, a Trans Sport:

Or a boss AF architect like my brother. He had a white LE for a couple years before he got a red V6. We got that little 4cyl up to 130mph before we ran out of room. Smooth as eggs, mega fun!

Technically, if you had a diecast Caravan, it would’ve been a Matchbox . The minivan that Majorette made was a Pontiac Trans Sport dustbuster.

This may surprise you, but Hot Wheels actually made a Dodge Caravan of that generation.

Needs a Camry dent.. I bring way more real series cars home to the kids than fantasy series.. although some of the track stars are hard to beat.

I will take your constant defending of all things beige, when you drive one instead of a ultimate driving machine.

This is brilliant. You don’t sell them to kids - you sell them to all the people who own white Camrys (exhibit a). If an adult sees an exact model of their own car, it’s a fun way to spend $5 or $10. I’m still looking for an exact replica of any of mine.

True. I’m still looking for our SUVs in diecast, at a reasonable price. I spent too much for this silly car

I will gladly pay for for a toy version of a boring car that I own(ed)!
Here are 3 of my cars. The optima was a nice find, although my kid messed it up a bit.

I guess I was that 19 year old kid on Christmas morning haha! I got the closest model I could to my car, same colors and everything. I’m jealous your doors open though!

Tavarishitis. Why buy a 2016 Corolla for $17,000 when you can get a XC90 AND Z4 for $13,000.
Oh and that $13k was my max price of what I could get. Used Camry in good nick/ low mileage are not cheap (13-16)

I want the racing version of my real car.
That is, this, the Prius apr GT that got second place in the 2016 Super GT GT300 championship:
Ebbro has a 2014-spec car in 1/43: http://ebbro.co.jp/item_japangp/442731211223111112121211131131111131112311111131111311211211211121.html
They’ve only got, like, a GT-R GT3 for 2016-spec GT300 cars, though.

Yes, that’s a Matchbox. It first appeared in 1983 as a dealer promo along with a Dodge Daytona Turbo Z, and then went retail in 1984. Tonka also offered a 1st generation Caravan panel van in its TNT Racers series that same year. Road Champs offered the 2nd Generation Caravan, and Hot Wheels produced the 4th Generation model.
The one Jagvar has pictured on top is the 3rd generation model, but it’s actually a European market Chrysler Voyager. Chrysler Europe used the Chrysler branding but the Dodge grille for that market.

It’s surprisingly hard to find normal diecast cars in specific colors. Harrier Airs sounds way cooler than RX300

No kidding! Finding my model was such a process I was considering making a write up on it (I still might if I find the time); it included going through Ebay UK to buy the model from China. I’m sure you had to go through a similar process, too.
I agree, maybe I should call my car a Harrier instead of Grocery Grabber haha.
